Drew Davis
Program Director
It all started on a cold January day in 1977, but we won’t go in to
all that. Drew is a local boy. He has spent most of his life right
here in the Triad. After Graduating from Ledford High School in
1995, he attended UNC-Charlotte for two years. Drew has worked in
the radio business for 11 years, mostly in the Triad, with stints in
Raleigh and Charlotte. He’s worn many hats over that time, including
that of writer, producer, traffic reporter, engineer, the boss, and
most recently, demolition specialist. Drew’s first radio job was
running sports broadcasts on our sister station Country Legends 98.3 back in
1993. At that time, they didn’t let him open the mic very much, for
good reason.
Drew’s favorite sports team is the Carolina Panthers, followed
closely by whichever team keeps the Yankees from winning the World
Series. In general though, Drew follows all sports, except for maybe
the national badminton tournament.
You may from time to time see Drew pretending to swing a baseball
bat, as that is his favorite sport to play. Otherwise he likes to nap and
lounge around his trendy bachelor pad. Drew is of course single, and
hopeless. Email Drew -

Morning Update Anchor

I was born in Providence Rhode Island and after
High School lived on Cape Cod for over fifteen years. I have
been broadcasting for over nine years. I began my radio career
doing a Blues show on the local Community College Radio Station
on the Cape. That led to Overnights on WPXC in Hyannis. While
there, I did it all starting with Overnights on weekends then
full time on Afternoons, then Nights and eventually Board Op for
the Howard Stern Morning Show.
After being in New England for over 30 years I
wanted to live somewhere else and chose the Triad. I got my foot
in the door at WKRR, first on weekends followed by short stints
doing Afternoons, and Mid Days. After two years there I moved on
to pursue more sports related broadcasting. Along with my duties
here at The Ball
I am the PA Announcer for the NOW Burlington Royals. I also did
PA for Greensboro College Football for two seasons and Play By
Play for their road games during the 2005 season. I also do some
on-air work for the Baylor Bears. You may also find me cooking
at Natty Greene’s on certain weeknights.
Growing up in New England I am a BIG Boston
Sports Fan!
Red Sox and Patriots Rule! I follow the Celtics but they haven’t
had much to cheer about lately and I am an estranged Bruins fan.
I love concerts and live music as much as sporting events.
My favorite band is Gov’t Mule.
I encourage you to read my blog “Loose Balls” for
further insight into my madness.

Afternoon Update Anchor
Born in Lexington and raised in
Winston-Salem, most of my life has been spent in the Twin City.
I attended High School at The Christchurch School in Virginia.
Then it was on to a slew of institutions of higher learning,
from Lynchburg College to Wake Forest, to the Connecticut School
of Broadcasting. During a two year stint with Hatch Technology
in Salt Lake City, I found time to convince a beautiful,
passionate Utah native named Maile (no she is not blind) to be
my wife. I now work at ISP Sports in Winston-Salem as well as
790 The Ball.
PROUD TO
BE A DEACON for all of my life, and now a Utah Ute by marriage,
I also enjoy watching The Patriots wreak havoc on Sundays! I
have a great love for reading, as well as video games, movies
and music. I love to travel, and my pet peeve is people who get
married during football season or on any big sports weekend! Go
Deacs!
